The University Grants Commission (UGC) launched the scheme of Vocationalisation of education at the first degree level from 1994-1995. A few vocational subjects were identified to be introduced as part of the existing B.A/B.Sc./B.Com courses through colleges and university departments having facilities for teaching undergraduate courses.
The State Government directed the Universities to introduce vocational courses at the degree level from 1994-95 session in accordance with the guidelines of the UGC.
The Vocational Honours courses are conducted in the College with the objective to train the students in skill based and job oriented courses that will enable them to find employment in the job market or equip them for self – employment. These skill based courses are conducted in an entirely different environment from that of the traditional ones. The teaching and learning environment consists of regular classroom teaching, intensive practicals, seminars, workshops, field study and On-Job-Training. The college tries to ensure that gainful employment opportunities are available to these students.

Q : Why the need for a vocational/main stream course?
Answer: We live in an era of professionalism. Corporate sectors these days are in need of specialized manpower to conduct their business. With the changing demands of the job market simple conventional courses fall short of meeting the growing requirements of the corporate world. Vocational courses provide ample knowledge and scope to climb the corporate ladder. Another advantage over the conventional course is specialized knowledge, which is required at the later stage of education and employment. People doing the course will be way ahead of the others whenever they wish to pursue Masters Programme or any other professional courses.
Q : What is a Vocational Course?
Answer:It is a professional subject based course designed by the UGC and amply prepares students for the job market. The main aim of the vocational course is to train the manpower for various industries as per their demand.
Q : What is the eligibility criteria required for admission in this course?
Answer:If you have 50% marks in the opted honours subject at the 12th /Intermediate examination you are eligible to apply ONLINE for the course. Selection would be made through entrance/viva examination and the criteria fixed by the respective department.

Answer:Yes, one is eligible for higher studies in any respective subject/branch as per his/her stream. One can acquire an MBA degree and is also eligible for various competitive examinations including UPSC/JPSC/Defence/SSC/Railway/Banking/Insurance etc. Also one is eligible to take admission in the distance learning system in any conventional subject related to the stream.

Answer:Multimedia teaching methodology are adopted for these courses. Regular Workshops, Market Research, Seminars, Audio-Visual shows are organized apart from the classroom lectures. The students are also sent to different corporate sectors for Internship/Projects during their theree year tenure.

Q : What facilities can I avail besides regular lectures?
Answer:All the Departments have a well equipped library, consisting of about 30000 books on the various subjects of technology, computers and management. Besides this the departmental libraries are linked with the college central library, which has about 125000 books and periodicals. The college has a well equipped reading room, which is available to the students between 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. every day. The college has a wi-fi enabled campus for internet access.
