From the Desk of Prof. Dr. V. P. Sharan, PhD.-Co-ordinator
The fourth pillar of democracy, as the mass media has been christened, seems to have become, of late, one of the most popular career options for the youth today. However, on account of changing technology and new dimensions of the media industry , it calls for a well earned higher degree in the field of journalism and mass communication before one distinguishes himself or herself in a diversity of media related fields and makes his or her career as TV producer, film producer, reporter, editor, camera person, teacher and scholar. It is with this vision that St Xavier’s College, declared as College with Potential for Excellence by the UGC and accredited with Grade A+ by NAAC, has launched two year/ four semester course in Master in Journalism & Mass Communication (MJMC).
