From the Desk of Prof. Mrs. Seema Khalkho, MA, MPhil.-HOD B.A. Hons. in English Language & Literature aims at creating a balance between the language and the literature studies of English. This course opens a world of opportunities for students; the students can choose a stream of their choice for higher studies as the course provides them the basic knowledge of the various components of the study of English. With the inclusion of the papers like Academic Writing and Composition, English Communication skills, English for Competitive Exams, Soft Skills and such others the students’ needs of Group discussion skills, soft skills, presentation skills and interview Skills are taken care of. This way the students have an advantage over the students of other subjects. The department is proud to have students pursuing their higher studies in various esteemed institutions of the country like Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU), Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University(BHU), The English and Foreign Language University (EFLU), Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), University of Mumbai, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Indian School of Business (ISB), ICFAI, Amity University and various other institutions. The students also make their careers in banking services and are successfully placed in State Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, Central Bank, Punjab and Sindh Bank and ICICI Bank. In addition to these they are also associated with various State government offices and MNC’s such as IBM, TCS, WIPRO, Cognizant, etc. A glimpse of the diversity of fields in which the students can make their career, itself speaks volumes about how dynamic this course is.

Higher study scopes of avenues of the English Language & Literature programme Students can pursue Post Graduation courses of Linguistics; Mass Communication. This degree is valid for any competitive examination also. You are also eligible for CAT / XAT / MAT like management entrance examination.
Selection Procedure The selection of the candidates will be made on the basis of the marks secured in the Entrance Test and Interview, to be notified to the college notice board/college website.
Eligibility Requirement Candidates having secured 50% marks in aggregate in any stream from JAC/ICSE/CBSE/ or any other recognized board examination
